NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors will hold a public meeting on August 6, 2012 at 10:00 am in the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Boardroom located at One Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles.

The Board is considering an amendment to the Measure R Traffic Relief and Rail Expansion Ordinance.  This Ordinance was approved by the voters in 2008 and imposed an additional 1/2 of one percent transactions and use tax to fund transportation improvements in the County. The Board is required to hold a public meeting on the proposed amendment prior to adoption. 

PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE SECTION 11

The Board is considering an amendment to Section 11 of the Measure R Ordinance that will allow funds, by a two-thirds Board vote, to be transferred between the Transit Capital and Highway Capital Subfunds within the same sub-region without the specific timing restrictions originally imposed by Measure R.   

Following is the specific amendment being proposed to Section 11 of the Ordinance with deleted text denoted by strikethrough and new text denoted by underlining:

SECTION 11. AMENDMENTS

b.   Notwithstanding Section 11(a) of this Ordinance, Metro shall not adopt any amendment to this Ordinance, including Attachment A, that reduces total Net Revenues allocated to the sum of the Transit Capital Subfund and the Highway Capital Subfund. Not more than once in any ten (10) year period commencing after the year 2019, Metro may adopt an amendment by a two-thirds vote transferring Net Revenues between the Transit Capital Subfund and the Highway Capital Subfund within the same subregion.
