YouTube

Studies show that the audience for online video continues to grow at a rapid pace.  People are finding useful resources in moving images streamed on their desktops or mobile devices, and are increasingly making it a part of their daily routine.

The Dorothy Peyton Gray Transportation Library's YouTube Channel allows us to share our historic legacy, to provide broad access to our archival and contemporary moving images, and to engage our users in a conversation about what transportation issues mean to them and our community.

YouTube is the world’s largest online video sharing platform.  Originally conceived as a place for users to upload and view moving images, it has quickly evolved into an innovative space for users to aggregate, share, save their favorites, and comment on every conceivable topic.  Uploading our extensive video collection here offers everyone from transit fans to researchers the ability to locate and use the resources that suit their needs.

We have developed playlists on numerous topics to help users zero in on particular subjects of interest to them: Los Angeles transportation history, our predecessor agencies (SCRTD, LACTC), historic commercials, bicycling and bike advocacy, high-speed rail, light rail, Measure R, rail safety, and more.  Our playlists also incorporate relevant content from other providers to provide the richest possible user experience in information access.

As our YouTube channel grows, it will further connect us with our users, inform us of their needs and preferences, and inspire our imaginations to serve them in new and exciting ways.
