10 Steps | Preparing to do Business with Metro

The Small Business Outreach Unit is responsible for providing assistance and guidance to small businesses interested in pursuing contracting opportunities at the Metro. The goal of the unit is to maximize small business participation on Metro contracts by performing the following types of activities:

  • Coordinates internal and external outreach events and speakers
  • Facilitates workshops regarding Metro small business programs
  • Responds to public inquiries about upcoming procurement contracting opportunities and provides information as needed
  • Develops and maintains corporate sponsorships with small business organizations
  • Develops partnerships with public agency small business program representatives and DBE trade associations to coordinate outreach events and keep abreast of small business community activities
  • Maintains an event calendar showing relevant small business events sponsored by the Metro
  • Establishes and maintains annual budget for education and outreach opportunities
  • Develops department marketing materials
  • Prepares articles for Metro’s newsletters and website
